Stolen Storm Grates

Storm grates and manhole covers have been reported missing in greater numbers since November of 2011.  Recently, the Kill Devil Hills area has five separate reports of these iron metal storm grates being stolen.  Aside from the expense of replacing these items, there is the danger an unexpected void in the roadway poses to pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists alike.

If you have any information on these crimes, please contact the Kill Devil Hills Police Department at (252) 449-5337 and request to speak to any available officer.
